The Election
is Here!

It had been a very long day for Pepper at school. The classroom air conditioner had been broken during the hottest summer days. Through the window, she could see swirls of hot air rising from the blacktop. Luckily, it was the last class of the day. She struggled to keep her eyes open while listening to Ms. Kay’s lesson about the presidential election.

Pointing to the whiteboard, Ms. Kay said, “There are always many people around us wherever we are. At home, we live with our parents and for some of us, siblings. At school, we spend most of our time with our friends and teachers. When we go to the mall, the park, the supermarket, or the town square, we see dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of people going through their daily lives.”
