President

Honk! Honk! In what felt like just a blink of an eye, her mom’s car magically appeared before her. In a hurry, she hopped into the car. Nice cold air was blowing and her mom’s favorite song was on. “How’s school?” her mom asked, while waving to the crossing guard. “It was good. We started learning about the presidential election.” Pepper answered, holding a yawn.

“How exciting!” her mom said. Pepper did not think of Ms. Kay’s class as particularly exciting, but she thought her mom was truly excited to hear what she learned at school. “It’s good to know about that,” her mom added. Then suddenly, Pepper said with a straight face, “Mom, I want to run for President of the United States.” Her mom could not believe what she just heard.
